About

Biology teacher, muso, author. Johnny Flint was born and raised in the South-East of South Australia on his parents’ farm, a coastal grazing property near Kingston SE. Johnny’s love of the wild places began at an early age but, growing up in the 80s and 90s, he became increasingly concerned about the environment.

The South-East is tranquil and picturesque, but its rolling hills and vast grazing lands hide a secret. Prior to settlement, 46% of this area was covered by wetlands. It is now reduced to 7%. Along with the degradation of our wetland ecosystems, we have cleared a shocking 87% of the native vegetation from our landscapes.

We need to preserve what’s left, rehabilitate where we can, and educate people that the natural world is still under threat and requires constant vigilance against corporate interests.

This wonder, and this worry, in equal parts, are represented in Johnny Flint’s books in his Tales from Demon’s Land.
